More Digital Teacher Tools- Turning it in with DropBox
Posted by Kira on October 5, 2011
So this year, I have more students than ever. With growing population at my desirable school and shrinking budgets statewide, I have up to 50 students in each of my digital art classes. Whew! The most overwhelming thing for me is keeping up with turned in assignments and grading. I had been using googledocs, which does work well in lots of cases, but right now I really need to maintain things on a lower level- like on my desktop! The main reason is the googledocs learning curve. It’s not that hard, but with my student-overload, it is difficult to keep on top of the kiddos and really spend the time some of them need in order to “get it!” So, always on the lookout for a new solution, I investigated DropBox.com. Great, but not so easy to share a folder. What to do?
Google to the rescue, because it turned up a great little app called DRopITtoME.com. What this does is provide a secure, password protected link that students (anyone, really) can use to upload a file to me. I get it in a folder on my desktop, where I can sort and store it however I like. I put it in place 2 days ago on my class website, and it’s working like a dream. No more complicated direction-following to get me a file. This is SIMPLE, quick and easy to understand on the kids’ side. Check it out in action on my school site! The password is bobcats2011, which I set myself and can change anytime if there is abuse.

I LOVE IT. Thanks for sharing. I am going to use this with my teachers. I hope that if they try it with me, and see it is successful, they will try it with their students! Great post. GRACIAS mi amiga.
