Common Core State Standards are changing the way we teach, beginning in Kindergarten. This booklet helps teachers scaffold their questioning and deepen students' understanding of literature and informational text. It features two levels of discussion stems for whole and small group instruction (one for general discussion and one for turn and talk opportunities), performance tasks, and bonus critical thinking questions. The book functions as a "two-in-one" flip book; flip one way for Reading Literature, flip the other way for Reading Informational Text. 28 page flip book.

Stoplight Punctuation: Complete Sentences
The basis of the Stoplight Punctuation series: Sentences are complete thoughts. We use an ending punctuation mark to indicate the thought has ended. End punctuation marks are like red lights because tell the reader a sentence has ended and to get ready for a new one. This app teaches students how to read and write sentences by looking at sentences as complete thoughts rather than dissecting subjects and predicates.

Stoplight Punctuation- Commas in Appositives
An appositive, a noun or noun phrase that renames the noun beside it, is set off by commas. It’s purpose is to further explain the noun, giving the reader greater insight, clarification, or information. Commas help the reader understand how to read the sentence and absorb the power of the appositive. This app teaches students what an appositive is and how to punctuate it correctly.

Stoplight Punctuation- Commas in Dates & Locations
Stoplight Punctuation- Commas in Dates & Locations
Commas in dates, geographical locations, address, and titles can be tricky. This quick app teaches students how to use commas quickly and concisely, and in authentic writing situations.
Specific Nouns
Specific Nouns
Kids know noun basics (person, place, thing or idea, common/proper, singular/plural), but they don’t realize that nouns can be specific or vague, and it is the specific nouns that add detail to their writing, paint pictures in their readers’ minds, and make their writing exciting and engaging. Adding strings of weak adjectives to a vague noun is not the answer. Teach your students to write tight, use less words and unlock the power writer in themselves.
